How to Reach Brač Easily This September & October

August 24, 2026

Getting to Brač Doesn't Get Complicated in the Off-Season

A lot of people put off visiting Brač outside July and August because they assume the ferries slow to a trickle once summer ends. They don't. Both September and October still run on close to full timetables, and the island itself is arguably at its best once the peak crowds clear out.

Three Ways In

Which route makes sense depends entirely on where you're staying.

  • Coming from Makarska (for Sumartin)

The car ferry to Sumartin takes about an hour and runs 4–5 times a day through September, settling to roughly 3 sailings a day once October's low-season schedule kicks in. This is the direct route if you're staying at one of our four villas on the harbour.

  • Coming from Split, fast (for Milna)

The catamaran to Milna is the quickest crossing on the island — just 22 minutes — with several sailings a day. Frequency eases slightly in October, but it's still a daily service.

  • Coming from Split, by car (Supetar)

This is the main gateway to Brač: a 50-minute car ferry with as many as 14 departures a day in September, dropping to a lighter but still frequent October schedule. From Supetar, any of our six villas are a straightforward transfer away.

Whichever route you take, the queues that build up in July and August simply aren't there in September or October , you can usually roll straight onto a sailing, car included.

Why Bother With Brač After Summer

The sea holds its temperature well into autumn, still around 25°C in September, dropping only into the low twenties by October, which is plenty warm enough to swim. Restaurants and beaches that were packed in August have room to breathe again, and villa rates come down from their peak. It's the version of the island a lot of regulars actually prefer.

Sumartin: Four Villas Right on the Harbour

Sumartin sits on Brač's eastern tip, reached via the Makarska ferry, and it's still very much a working fishing village rather than a resort town. All four of our villas here open onto the riva — no drive needed to reach the harbour, restaurants, or shops.

  • Villa Rasotica — 8 guests, 3 bedrooms, 220m to the beach. A private pool and a covered outdoor kitchen make this an easy fit for families who want to eat outside most nights.
  • Villa Vjeka — 9 guests, 4 bedrooms, 200m to the beach. Built around early-1900s wooden furnishings, with a garden pool, swings, table tennis, and sea-facing balconies — best suited to a bigger group.
  • Villa Bonaca — 8 guests, 3 bedrooms, steps from the harbour. The name means "tranquility," and it's a fitting one for a stone villa with a pool set right where the fishing boats come in.
  • Villa Mir Vami — 10 guests, 4 bedrooms, 100m to the beach. Raised above the harbour with four en-suite bedrooms and a pool angled toward the sunset.

Milna: Two Villas, 22 Minutes from Split

Milna is a marina town on the western side of the island — closer to Split than almost anywhere else on Brač, and one of the prettier harbours on the Adriatic besides.

  • Villa Milna Bay — 8 guests, 4 bedrooms. A more contemporary build than most on this list, with a heated pool facing straight out to sea and the marina an easy walk away.
  • Villa Makarac — 8 guests, 4 bedrooms. Set apart in its own bay, reached by a private road, with a heated pool and enough garden around it that you won't see another villa. A car is worth having for this one.
