Mediterranean Climate in Croatia
Due to its specific location and topography, a mixture of mountains, plains and long coast Croatia has a very diverse climate. There is a distinction between two major climate regions: one along the coastline – MEDITERRANEAN climate, with mild weather in winter and moderate to hot dry summers, and one for the interior of the country - CONTINENTAL climate with quite harsh winters, moderate to hot summers and a fair amount of precipitation.
The best known and most visited part of Croatia is the Dalmatian coast, its islands and the city of Dubrovnik. It has a pleasant Mediterranean climate with mild and warm winters and hot and sunny summers. The Dalmatian hinterland features mountains and tends to be cooler than the coast.
