Dubrovnik Day is the 3rd of February because it is the day of its patron - saint Blaise. Every year, around this date, the city organizes the Festival of St. Blaise with numerous events - concerts, street dances and gastronomic offers.

The central event consists of Mass and procession through the city on the very day of St. Blaise. Every year, before the beginning of Lent, you can enjoy carnivals all over Croatia. In many cities there are parades, colorful costumes and numerous parties. However, by far the most famous is the Rijeka Carnival, which runs every year from mid-January to the end of February. The highlight of the event is the International Carnival Parade, which is always the last Sunday before Lent. This is one of the biggest carnivals in Europe not to miss on your vacation in Croatia.

You can enjoy the enchanting scenery of the Zadar Islands and the Telascica Nature Park during the annual Dugi Otok (Long Island) Trail race. The start and end of all races are in March in Sali. In addition to nature, this island will enchant you with its rich historical heritage and archaeological sites.

Another traditional gastro event is The Festival of Oysters. Every year, at the beginning of spring, on the Peljesac peninsula you can get acquainted with this magnificent shell and discover in what ways it can be prepared. The main event takes place on the seafront in Mali Ston the first day and the next day in the main square in Ston.

Various oyster dishes are complemented by Dalmatian songs and good wine. The Tuna, Sushi and Wine Festival is held in March in Zadar, in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Croatia. Professionals and amateurs alike can enjoy workshops, lectures and exhibitions. The most interesting and the most visited is the gastro market. In addition to on-site cooked specialties, you can also find many indigenous products such as wine, cheese, olive oil.

What to do on your vacation in Croatia in April?

Palm Sunday, Holy Week and Easter are usually in April. During these holidays in many coastal and island towns you can participate in various traditional events and Easter festivals.

In April all lovers of Dalmatian song should come to Dubrovnik for the Aklapela - Dalmatian Songs Festival. It features local vocal groups (in Croatian - klape) that nurture authentic vocal singing.

On the same weekend, fans of outdoor sports can take part in 100 Miles of Istria. You don't have to be a professional. All brave enthusiasts can try one of the races - 100 miles trail, one of 110 km or one of "only" 65 km. 100 Miles of Istria is one of the most important regional trails running events. A treat for everyone who loves the sea and boats is the Croatia Boat Show in Split. Renowned domestic and foreign builders of pleasure vessels exhibit at the West Coast in April. You'll find all types of vessels - from dinghies and auxiliary vessels, through sailboats and catamarans to large motor yachts. Many of these are available for test runs. Of course, all related branches present their products and services on the fair, such as manufacturers of nautical and fishing equipment, electronics, board and outboard engines and charter companies.

The largest number of summer parties in Croatia occurs in Zrce, Pag. The madness begins in May with a "spring break" weekend. Be there and open the season. It is easy to find transportation from most major coastal cities.

If you come to Zadar in May you can become a part of the world event. That is when the Wings for Life World Run races are running around the world. The total amount raised through payments to participate in these races is for research into spinal cord injuries. What sets Zadar apart from all other races is the fact that this is the only route by the sea.

The patron saint of Split is St. Domnius and his feast day are on the 7th of May. If you come to the city you can take part in and enjoy the great procession and mass on the waterfront. And there is all-day entertainment - games, competitions, prizes, music and entertainers, and maybe a giant risotto in the town center.

In Split, in early May, you can also enjoy the International Flower Fair. Every year, colorful flowers, florists and competitions in the making of the most beautiful flower arrangements fulfill Diocletian's basements. We recommend you visit this visually beautiful event.

If you are a wine lover, the first half of May is ideal for visiting Poreč. Visit Vinistra if you are in Croatia in May. It’s an exhibition of wine and winemaking equipment. In this exhibition, along with wine, Istrian olive oil and brandy compete and exhibit.
